East Timor added to Nurse the Nation

DO YOU HAVE NURSING SKILLS THAT YOU COULD SHARE WITH A DEVELOPING NATION?

If you are an experienced registered nurse, this is the chance of a life time to enrich your life and enhance your career. We invite you to join us in a new nursing project, established by St John of God Health Care, to develop nursing standards and practices in Timor Leste. The position is for an initial two year term, with the possibility of extension for an additional period.

The National Nursing Development Program will be implemented over the next five years and aims to improve patient outcomes by placing skilled Australian and New Zealand nurses in Timor Leste to develop the knowledge, skills and standards of the Timorese nurses.

Based at the Dili National Hospital in Timor Leste you will be part of the inaugural team of registered nurses with specialist skills to be deployed to Dili to implement the program. Nurses will be recruited from Australia and New Zealand, and will be led by a newly appointed Senior Nurse Manager.

You will be an experienced nurse, registered in Australia or New Zealand, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, an appreciation of cross-cultural sensitivities including an ability to adapt and be flexible, as well as an aptitude for organisation. You will have specific experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Accident and Emergency
- ICU
- Paediatrics

Previous experience working in a developing country will be highly regarded.

Interviews will be held the week of the 15th March, after which preferred candidates will be identified to undertake psychometric testing and health checks. Preferred candidates must then be available to travel to Dili during the week of 12th April to complete the final part of the interview process.

An extensive orientation, remuneration package, travel and living expenses will be offered to the successful applicants. To apply you must submit a statement addressing the selection criteria, CV and referee details.
